The latest reports have claimed that Premier League club Arsenal are willing to make a deal for Barcelona winger Malcom this summer to bolster their squad for next season after thinking that Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace is too expensive.
Unai Emery is desperate to add further reinforcements to his side after he finally made Gabriel Martinelli his first signing of the summer. The Spanish manager is now preparing a bid for Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha but the Eagles have slapped an £80 million price tag on the Ivorian winger.
Arsenal are only being given a £40 million transfer war chest this summer and with that tight budget, it will be difficult for the 47-year-old Spaniard to make a big impression in the transfer market. The failure to qualify for the Champions League has been a big blow for the London club and Emery wants to achieve a top-four berth in the upcoming campaign.
Despite Zaha being the top priority for Arsenal in the transfer market, the Gunners are now in the mood to sign Barcelona’s Malcom after the Brazilian has had an underwhelming season with the La Liga champions. The 22-year-old attacker scored only four goals in 24 appearances for Barcelona and has struggled to nail down a regular spot under Ernesto Valverde.
Barcelona is also looking to offload Malcom in order to raise funds for other summer arrivals and are ready to hand the winger to Arsenal. However, Arsenal is still not able to afford the young midfielder and are keen on a loan deal with the option to make his signature official next summer.
