Arsenal manager Unai Emery has admitted that the club will try to sign about three of four players before the summer transfer window ends to try and bolster the squad for the upcoming season
The Gunners are linked with bringing in a few big names to the Emirates Stadium over the summer including Wilfried Zaha and Kieran Tierney but have only acquired Gabriel Martinelli until now.
Arsenal is in dire need of some reinforcements in the summer but reports claim that the club only has around £40 million to spend on new arrivals this summer. However, Emery has guaranteed that the club will make around three of four more signings in the next few weeks to add some new faces to their squad too in order to make it back into the Champions League and start competing for major honors once again.
While speaking to reporters the 47-year-old Emery explained that the backroom staff is working hard to try and lure players to the North London side and fill up some positions with top quality players, “We are working; the club is working with the possibility to sign some new players to help us. We are doing a lot of meetings with the club, with [the technical director] Edu, with Raul [Sanllehi, head of football] and also with Josh and Stan Kroenke on Monday in Denver. We have a clear idea to sign players to help us with quality and in the positions we need. We are talking with the patience and with calm because we really want to sign players who can help us with a big performance and also because we think in the team we have very good players and young players and we also need to take the best player in some positions.
Emery then finally added that Arsenal will try to sign around three of four more players before the transfer window shuts, “Really, I can say to our supporters that we are going to have a very good team with the players that are there now and also with three or four players who can help us in a few days. Other players can come here to help us. We are being very, very demanding and are first speaking about the possibility to sign very big, very expensive players and the first player in our list is our first target. And after, if we cannot achieve that, then the second. But we are thinking every time that they are going to improve our squad.”
