According to RMC Sport, Arsenal skipper Laurent Koscielny have agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes. He will apparently join Rennes, once he leaves Arsenal on mutual agreement.
Koscielny is still one year from when his contract is due at Emirates Stadium – but has agreed mutual terms with Rennes despite the recent reports linking him with Bordeaux.
The 33-year-old is not all a Rennes player – he is yet to find a common ground with Arsenal. Laurent is trying to get out of extension deal he signed last year and his representatives are looking for legal measures to satisfy his demands.
Arsenal are expecting to recover ten million euros, as compensation from the French side.
Koscielny, will end his nine year stay with Arsenal – IF he finds a way out of North London this summer. The former French international has been an influential figure at N5 since departure of Thomas Vermaelen back in 2014 and has been the rock in vulnerable Arsenal defence.
His departure will certainly be hard for Arsenal supporters to take, but there can be some upside to it; Basically, if Koscielny would have stayed at Arsenal another season – the chances are no new central defender would have been brought in as Arsenal have alot of young talents at their disposal. But that wouldn’t be the case now.
