Will the past stop Pochettino from joining Arsenal?

As a manager there are things that go beyond your past. If you got to lead a team that was once your biggest rival, you would do it unless it is you home grown club. For Mauricio Pochettino, the same flummox has arrived! To lead Arsenal that once was a bloodbath competitor of his ex-club.

The Argentine manager has just been sacked by his club Tottenham Hotspur and have already got offers from another North London club in Arsenal. The five-and-a-half year coach of Tottenham may soon be seen leading the Reds of London.

Is it against the ethics of football? For some it may be but from the point of view of Arsenal, it is the only thing they need right now. To stop their drowning ship, Pochettino is definitely the steward that needs to be taken into account.

Arsenal are on the verge of losing Unai Emery after their dismal display against Southampton. The Gunners need a man like Pochettino who can bring the team together and fulfil the promises that once were brought to London by Emery.

And bringing in Pochettino to Arsenal will be a no surprise to Redknapp.

The ex-Tottenham midfielder told the Daily Mail: “If I was a decision-maker at Arsenal, I’d go for Mauricio Pochettino in a heartbeat.

“I’m not sure I believe Poch would let his time with Tottenham stop him from taking over.

“Maybe the reason Spurs decided to go for Jose Mourinho so suddenly was they felt they could not hang around, because their north London rivals might be searching for a new boss soon.

“Unai Emery is under big, big pressure. I have some sympathy for him but he looks a beaten man.”

Mauricio Pochettino is the perfect man to come and handle the helm, if he wishes to. The Argentine surely has a heart left at Tottenham but would not want to say no to lead Arsenal. The reports suggest that he may soon be joining the Gunners as talks are already underway.
