Joelson Fernandes was said to pen a new contract with Sporting with the Portuguese based club agreeing to compromise on release clause conflict rather than losing him on cheap to Arsenal. But as Sporting seem to hurdle themselves over a potential Joelson contract renewal, media in Portugal continue to name Arsenal as a threat to take him away from Lisbon.
O Jogo today wrote another piece about this Joelson-Sporting contract saga, insisting that The Lions are finding it hard to get common terms with the Player and his representatives as alongside the initial release clause conflict, Sporting and Joelson are shown various other differences in the deal.
Meanwhile, the paper name Arsenal to be in ‘pole position’ to sign Joelson with the Gunners sending an envoy to Lisbon as te North London side are willing to pay between €15m and €20m for the winger.
Sporting are trying hard to get Joelson’s renewal and have scheduled a meeting for next week, however, with gorwung number of differences, they are also considering selling him.
The claims about Arsenal’s offer are pretty interesting as their visit to Portugal was previously claimed in the Portuguese media with A Bola saying Arsenal would send emissaries to Lisbon to try to sign Joelson this week.
Despite having a release clause of €60m, the fact that his contract is up next year may force Sporting into selling him for much less.
