Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined Liverpool back in 2017, is reportedly considering a shock return with his former side Arsenal. His lack of opportunities at Liverpool has been a source of frustration for the 28-year-old.

Chamberlain joined Liverpool for a deal worth £35 Million. He currently earns £125k and has three years left on his contract with the 19-20 Premier League champions. The Ox missed the first four months of the 20/21 season due to a knee injury, and he has only started four games for Liverpool since then.

During his tenure at Arsenal, he made 198 appearances and scored 20 goals in six seasons at the Emirates Stadium, winning the FA Cup three times. When Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool in 2017, he won the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in the following year.

Now after being fallen down the pecking order in Jurgen Klopp’s team, Alex is contemplating the possibility of reuniting with former Arsenal teammate Mikel Arteta in the upcoming January transfer window. Both Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arteta, who joined Arsenal in the summer of 2011, have an excellent connection, having played a part in the FA Cup victories in 2014 and 2015.

The Gunners are reportedly interested in a six-month loan with the option of a permanent transfer at the conclusion of the season, according to sources in London.

Spaniard Mikel Arteta is expected to not rule out the possibility of signing a midfielder, as Granit Xhaka is out injured for three months with a knee injury and, Thomas Partey and Mohammed Elneny are also going to miss plenty of action in January due to the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

Arsenal will be back in action on Monday, in a late-night kick-off against London rivals Crystal Palace.
