Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Joao Felix with Atletico Madrid leaving him out of the matchday squad for the game against Real Oviedo amidst exit rumours.
Felix has had a torrid time at Atletico Madrid. He has never really adapted to Diego Simeone’s system ever since his move from Benfica and has found himself on the bench for the majority of the first half of the season.
The Portuguese forward has fallen out with his manager at the Spanish capital. Atletico are now willing to send their talented striker out on loan with a number of Premier League clubs including Arsenal interested in him.
Joao Felix would be a great acquisition for Arsenal. He can be the perfect folly to Gabriel Jesus. The duo are very different players for the same position and can be useful for Mikel Arteta at different times this season.
Atletico are said to be demanding a huge loan fee for Felix. It remains to be seen if Arsenal are willing to pay the money it takes to bring Joao Felix to Emirates. Jorge Mendes being his agent is definitely not going to help us either.
One thing that no one can doubt about Felix is his obvious talent. At 23 however, the Portuguese forward is no longer a wonderkid and it’s high time we start seeing him realize that obvious potential.
Let’s see if Mikel Arteta is the manager to bring the best out of Joao Felix. For that though, Arsenal needs to be able to sign him in January and let’s see how they go about it.
