Athletico Paranaense’s Vitor Roque has become one of the most sought-after talents in South America, with several top European clubs vying for his signature.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, Roque dealt a major blow to their transfer hopes by declaring his intention to play for Barcelona. While Roque’s decision is undoubtedly disappointing for Arsenal fans, who seemed pretty excited on Twitter posting comps when the rumours came out – and why wouldn’t they, this guy seems like the next big thing coming out of Brazil.
But Arsenal are going no-where, and they are determined to get their man…
Latest reports by Sport suggests Arsenal ‘insist the most’ in their bid to secure Vitor Roque’s services. The North Londoners are said to be his ‘strongest bidders’ with Edu Gasper, leading the pursuit. Edu has said to be in constant contact with the teenager’s camp for months as Arsenal woo Vitor Roque.
Arsenal are offering the 18-year-old a ‘tailor-made’ sporting project with all a Brazilian core in three Gabriel’s, Marquinhos and Edu himself.
As a fuel to the rumours, Juvenal Ferreira – Vitor Roque’s father posted a picture of him in London over the weekend, captioned, “I Love Londres ❤️” – make of it what you will. Well, on my part – i will continue to get excited.

Alongside Barcelona and Arsenal, Chelsea are also named an interested party with the three clubs expected to go hard in to get Vitor Roque.
Arsenal, although, are in a bit of a happy conundrum when it comes to striking options with top talents like Eddie Nketiah & Flo Balogun among their ranks as deputy to Gabriel Jesus. We also have Khan Edwards coming up from the academy, who looks like an interesting prospect. And ofcourse, Mika Biereth and Nikolaj Moller – who are developing on loan in Netherlands.
Although the ambition from Mikel Arteta and Edu to constantly keep pushing to acquire top talents speaks in abundance about this Arsenal project and the sustainability around it.
