According to journalist Florian Plettenburg, RB Leipzig are reportedly showing a keen interest in Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun. As per the report, Balogun would be a more affordable option than their other target, Jonathan David, with the former striker valued at €40m following his performances for Remis this season.
Balogun has been playing on loan with Stade Reims on loan in France, aiming to find regular playing time and aid in his development. He has already made a name for himself by establishing a spot in the team and putting up impressive numbers with 19 goals and three assists in 31 games across all competitions.
Arsenal will now have to decide whether to keep Balogun and utilize him in Mikel Arteta’s squad for next season or to move him on. RB Leipzig has shown interest in the 21-year-old forward as a potential addition to their team in the summer.
Previously, RB Leipzig had been considering Jonathan David, but the player’s value at around €65m is considered too expensive for the German club’s tastes. Balogun’s price valuation is at least €40m, which seems to be a more reasonable figure for the officials at Leipzig, making the young forward a more feasible option.
However, Leipzig isn’t the only club that has shown interest in Balogun. With his performances this season, there is said to be “a lot of competition” from other top European clubs for the player’s signature. Whether Arsenal will sell Balogun or not is not yet known, but they are in a position to earn a significant profit on a player who has emerged from their youth ranks.
