Sunderland striker Mason Cotcher is trialling with Arsenal’s U18 squad, intending to impress the club coaches.
He’s a known figure in his age group because of his impressive techniques and goal-scoring abilities. The 17-year-old forward can play either as a center-forward or from the flank. His goalscoring prowess led him to feature with Sunderland’s first team in an FA Cup match against Shrewsbury.
And England have already capped the young forward at the youth level.
Since training with Arsenal’s youth, Cotcher has featured with the U18 to play against Crystal Palace, scoring a goal in the 45th minute and exhibiting a lightning reflex and quick act inside the box to give Arsenal the lead before halftime. Unfortunately, his goal was only enough to help Arsenal salvage a draw against their tough opposition. His clinical finishing and eye for goal have already caught the attention of the club coaches.
However, Cotcher has yet to sign a professional contract with any club, but that might not take too long to change as the level of potential he has shown on trial with the U18 thus far is propelling the club to initiate a plan to secure his services for the near future.
