Thomas Partey has had a career ridden with injury concerns since he moved to Arsenal. The Ghanaian international has just played for four times in the Premier League this season owing to yet another injury complemented by a set-back.
When Arsenal brought Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid back in 2020, many saw him to be a heir to Patrick Vieira’s throne. Partey was ruling Europe and Spain under Diego Simeone before Arsenal dramatically snatched him from under Atletico’s noses.
Although the Gunners’ faithful have grown frustrated for the extended time he spends on the sidelines every season. This has apparently gone on to frustrate the officials at Arsenal as well.
Although Thomas Partey will be given a final chance to salvage his Arsenal career as we move into the final few months of the 2023-24 season.
Thomas Partey is back in training and is expected to be back in the squad on Monday against Sheffield United.
According to a report by Football Transfers, the North London based club are willing to give Thomas Partey one more chance. If he proves himself to be fit and perform at the highest level, Arsenal would be willing to sit down and negotiate on a new contract.
That being said, in my opinion, it is very risky to hand Thomas Partey a new contract. The 30-year-old has been prone to injuries for a while now and any new contract would mean a significant increase in his current wages. When fit, there are barely any midfielders better than him but if having him means watching him pull his muscle every time there is a transition then we better stay away from that new contract.
Now that Thomas Partey is back he will be an important part of the final run-in of the season. Coming in with his physicality, octopus legs, and those vertical balls would prove beneficial to Arsenal as they compete for the Premier League and Champions League,
