Why is Yilmaz a hot commodity? The winger played a crucial role for the Turkish national team at Euro 2024, starting in key matches against Georgia, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Austria, and the Netherlands. The 24-year-old has caught Arteta’s eye because of one trait: consistency. This made him a standout player in the Euros. The Galatasaray winger helped Turkey reach the quarterfinals of the competition before they were knocked out by the Netherlands.

The 24-year-old winger has spent his entire senior career in Turkey, joining Galatasaray in the summer of 2021. Last May, he extended his contract, which now runs until 2027. He has made 55 appearances, scoring 7 goals and providing 12 assists in the 23/24 season.

A former footballer now turned coach, Gaziantep boss Selcuk Inan, said: “I think Baris Alper Yılmaz can play very comfortably for many teams in the Premier League at the moment. He’s a very special player. We worked a lot together. If Barñs Alper improves himself with his final ball, he can easily play for the best clubs in the world, such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Arsenal. ”

The North London Giants are still active in the transfer market, prioritizing the addition of a new central midfielder, a winger, and possibly a striker. As part of this strategy, Arsenal are reportedly accelerating negotiations with Galatasaray to sign RW Barış Alper Yılmaz, who has been described as “very special.” The potential agreement being discussed would see Arsenal pay €20 million.

It remains to be seen if the Gunners can get the ball forward soon enough in time for the new season. It could be a low-risk signing with high value in the future.
