The Premier League is underway and you know what that means… It’s FPL time. The aficionados would have already picked their team and joined leagues to compete, either for fun or professionally. Once the Tottenham vs Leicester City game concludes tomorrow, it’s time for the first-round bragging rights.

It’s often easy to forget that professional footballers are also football fans just like us and are never far away from playing the FPL themselves. As a fan, it’s always fun to keep an eye out on what team the professional footballers pick for their drafts and see if they have any players from your favourite team.

Thus, when Mohamed Salah’s FPL team got circled on social media yesterday, it came as a pleasant surprise to many Arsenal fans. The Egyptian winger has picked out quite a strong team which understandably has three Liverpool players – Andy Robertson, Diogo Jota and the man himself. How does this concern Gunners fans though?

Judging by the team he has picked out, Mo Salah thinks Arsenal are likely to have an excellent season defensively. The 32-year-old has picked out three players from Mikel Arteta’s team – David Raya, Ben White and Gabriel. The man clearly puts more faith in the Arsenal defence than his own team’s backline.

Salah has also picked out two Spurs players – Kulusevski and Maddison. There is one representation each from both Manchester clubs in Garnacho and Akanji. The team is rounded off by Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, Flekken, Valentin Barco and Hwang Ui-jo. Interestingly, the Egyptian has left out Man City star Erling Haaland.

It’s lovely to know that one of the superstars of one of our biggest rivals thinks we are going to have a great season, defensively and is willing to put his money on it (metaphorically speaking). As they say, attacks win you matches, defences win you tournaments. Going by Salah’s verdict, Arsenal are primed to win the Premier League.

Having kept a clean sheet against Wolves, all three of the Arsenal contingent would have helped Salah get a lot of points. The Egyptian himself did extremely well with a goal and an assist and so did his teammate Diogo Jota who scored a goal.

The Egyptian clearly knows his ball and who knows, maybe Salah is a secret Gunners fan deep down in his heart! Jokes apart, he has picked out a great team and any Arsenal fan would love to see this.
