23yo Arsenal leader close to signing a new contract amid Real Madrid links

As per ArsenalFanaticNews on X, Arsenal are planning to offer new contracts to several players, with key centre-back William Saliba being the most notable name on the list.

The 23-year-old has been a true cornerstone of the English giant’s resurgence to the top, and it is absolutely vital to keep him at the club. The French star signing a renewal will be like a new signing itself.

However, Real Madrid are lurking around and have locked him as their next summer target. They missed out on getting young CB Leny Yoro, who moved to Manchester United from OSC Lille.

The La Liga side is currently facing a major injury crisis with several key defenders sidelined. David Alaba, Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, plus Academy stars Joan Martinez and Jacobo Ramon are all sitting in the treatment room.

With Antonio Rudiger also slowly moving past his prime years, the Los Blancos need to sign a new superstar at the back. Their eyes are set on Arsenal’s Saliba, with Rudiger recently calling him ‘a silent leader’.

But the Gunners have made it very clear that the former Saint-Etienne star is non-transferable and will not deter their stance. Hence, as per sources, he is close enough to commit his future to the North London outfit.

The defender has loved his stay at the club but wants to win major trophies to meet his goals. He recently talked about his future at the Emirates, saying:

I still have goals and ambition because I haven’t won anything. I’ve had some good seasons, but you need to win some trophies, and that’s what I want to do with Arsenal and the national team.”

Arsenal needs to make sure they lift a silverware this season or risk losing their key player to a team that has achieved considerable success in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have formed a solid partnership at the back for Arsenal since the past two years.

A club’s success is determined by its ability to hold its strongest players. Even if the 2024 Ballon d’Or nominee’s contract runs until 2027, the Gunners are doing their best to entice him to extend his stay.

We hope the rumours are true and the club adds an exorbitant release clause in his contract, deeming him untouchable for the elite European clubs.
