Arsenal are interested in Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, who reportedly has a fixed release clause in his contract.
As per reports from Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, the Swede can depart the Lisbon-based club for a bid of £55million.
While the club will look to keep their prized asset for as long as possible, clubs such as Arsenal have registered their interest in acquiring Gyokeres. Fellow Premier League rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City will also compete for the Swedish forward’s signature as he continues to impress in the Sporting colours.
Since joining Sporting CP from Coventry City in July 2023, Viktor Gyokeres has been lethal in front of goal for his club. The marksman has bagged an astounding 63 goals and also provided 19 assists in just 66 appearances across competitions. His ability to guarantee a goal per game has made Gyokeres one of the hottest properties in European football currently.
Gyokeres’ impactful start for Sporting CP this season
So far this season, the Swede has made an electric start both domestically and in Europe as well. He has scored 20 goals and provided four assists in just 16 appearances for Sporting CP across competitions, of which two goals are three games in the UEFA Champions League. Gyokeres’ ability to perform consistently irrespective of pressure situations is where Arsenal will look to take the opportunity to try and bring the player to north London. The club needs a player who can perform consistently on the biggest stages.
Despite having the likes of Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus to take up central attacking positions, Arsenal will look to add to their ranks by bringing in a proven goal scorer. While making a move for Viktor Gyokeres would seem unlikely in January, Arsenal will look to position themselves well for landing their top target next summer.

The North Londoners signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad in 2024. However, Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s hierarchy will be acutely aware of needing a couple more big signings to take them closer to winning silverware.
Bringing in a player of Viktor Gyokeres’ calibre will be a big statement of intent to their domestic rivals and will surely put the Gunners in a commanding position to compete for the Premier League title.
