Arsenal might receive an early advantage in 2024, with Brentford potentially missing key players when the two sides face off on January 1. The Bees could be without goalkeeper Mark Flekken, as well as defender Ben Mee, as both came off injured during the club’s 0-0 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion on December 27.

This is as per reports from Now Arsenal, which add that the pair could be the latest additions to an already worrying injury list for Brentford. Manager Thomas Frank provided an update on his players in the aftermath of the draw against Brighton, saying,

“On both Flekken and Mee, we have no real update. We’ll know more tomorrow when we really assess them. Hopefully, the injuries aren’t too big.”

Brentford are still in a respectable 11th place in the Premier League table after nearly reaching halfway mark of the season, and have done reasonably well without several key players.

Along with Flekken and Mee, the Bees will also be without a few other players. Ethan Pinnock, Kristoffer Ajer and Sepp van den Berg all picked up injuries in recent weeks, forcing Thomas Frank to field a makeshift lineup in multiple games this season. As a result, they have performed well below their abilities, and it has reflected in their performances and in their ranking in the Premier League table.

Now, they are gearing up to face one of the strongest sides in the Premier League and will be forced to field a reduced side due to their several injury concerns. While this has affected the personnel Frank has picked in recent gameweeks, the team’s style of play and approach to matches has not changed.

The Bees will host the Gunners at the Gtech Community Stadium on January 1 in what promises to be an exciting match.
