Arsenal decide against launching a move for 24-year-old Juventus ace this January

Vlahovic-Arsenal

As revealed by Arsenal Fanatics News on the Patreon, Arsenal won’t be making a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic this January amid serious links with the Serbian star.

The 24-year-old has fared well since signing for the Turin giants three years ago from rivals Fiorentina. The Gunners tried to persuade the player to move to North London and increase their chances of securing a Champions League spot. However, the attacker preferred to join the Serie A side.

He scored 40 goals in 90 games for the Old Lady, a decent return. However, Thiago Motta’s return to managerial duties has affected his form, and the former Juventus player is clearly falling down the pecking order.

Vlahovic scored 12 goals in 23 games in all competitions this season but is still not a regular upfront. His contract will expire in less than 18 months time, and their talks over a new contract haven’t progressed until now. Gazzetta dello Sport previously stated that Juventus are ready to let their prized asset leave this year.

Meanwhile, Sky Italy said that they are targeting Paris Saint-Germain ace Kolo Randal Muani as a potential replacement. Arsenal were automatically linked with a move, and it made sense since they are suffering from their own injury crisis.

Gabriel Jesus suffered a potential season-ending injury against Manchester United last weekend. Kai Havertz isn’t a natural false nine, and they also let Eddie Nketiah join Crystal Palace in the summer.

A scarcity of options in attack will push them towards foreign targets. All previous reports hinted that the Gunners have kept Vlahovic on their transfer wishlist.

Recent sources have now clearly stated that a move to the Emirates Stadium won’t be happening in January. The Serbian star will cost a ransom if they pursue a permanent move, as the Serie A titans spent £60 million on him.

A loan deal is the closest answer, but it won’t make sense since he is their highest-paid player, pocketing €427,308 per week.

Arsenal are unlikely to spend that much and put a dent in their financial plans. Whether a summer raid is possible or not is yet to be determined. As things stand, Mikel Arteta’s team will look for other options as they are out of the race to sign the Juve star.

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko are the clear favourites. The former is a fan favourite, and several pundits have urged the club to submit an offer for the Swedish talisman.

We expect the Gunners to splash a decent sum on at least one attacker this month. All problems point to the fact that they need a powerful leader upfront. Only time will tell who will walk through the doors at N5.
