As per Greame Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal are understood to be financially capable of making a bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this January.
It is said that they have the necessary funds to sanction a move, but the deal is still complicated on paper. The German club is holding on for a fee of around £59.2 million for their prized asset.
The Gunners are desperate to sign a striker due to the unfortunate injury woes that have affected them in the past few months. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are sidelined, and while the former could return in March, the latter has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign owing to an ACL injury.
Mikel Arteta is forced to overuse Kai Havertz, and the tight schedule hasn’t helped their cause. It is touted that they will target one striker, but if things are favourable, then a second signing can’t be ruled out.
They have been heavily linked with Wolves ace Matheus Cunha this January. The Portuguese star is yet to sign a new contract and has opened doors for Arsenal to ponder a move.
Arsenal have funds to sign Sesko this January
Slovenian attacker Sesko was also admired by the Gooners hierarchy for a long time. The North London outfit tried to lure him to the N5 last summer, but the 21-year-old decided to sign for the Bundesliga side.
But recent reports also suggest that he has a gentleman’s agreement with Leipzig, who won’t come in his way if he decides to leave in the next summer transfer window.

Last summer when projects were pitched to Benjamin Sesko between Arsenal, Chelsea & Man United, he picked Arsenal & then decided to stay the season.
It’s going to take a crazy offer or be impossible in January because their position is very firm 🇸🇮 pic.twitter.com/AxTL3WZCuB

Arsenal have maintained a good rapport with the Red Bull sister club and have held several talks with Sesko’s agents. They have picked up pace since they need immediate solutions to their crisis upfront.
The English giants have the capability to splash £59.2m on the youngster either this month or in the summer. The main issue would be to convince the forward to leave since he had his own reservations when the Gooners tried to lure him last summer.
Playing regularly is his first priority, and the current situation favours that. He will be an automatic starter, and with so many years of football left in him, he can be part of a long-term plan under Arteta.
Benjamin Sesko’s finishing gives me prime Robin Van Persie vybes. That ability attempt first time shots, shoot from distance, use both feet very well. Arsenal have not had this kind of CF for 13 years now.pic.twitter.com/ueQebNqECf

Leipzig still have a good chance to finish in the top four in the German league, and they might try to hold on to their star player. This transfer is less driven by financial commitments and is more influenced by how the club can benefit from having a player like Sesko in their squad.
