Wissa-Arsenal

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the market for a striker and have been linked with various names costing a varied range of money. As per latest reports from Arsenal Fanatics News, Spurs are considering making a move for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa, who has also been linked with their eternal rivals Arsenal. However, the Gunners may only enter a race for the player should their other deals fall through.

News about Arsenal approaching Aston Villa for Ollie Watkins has been doing the rounds this week, with their moves for other January targets such as Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig) and Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus) falling through as the clubs were unwilling to sell. However, Villa themselves agreed to sell Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr, meaning they cannot let Watkins leave without signing a replacement.

As for Tottenham, they have been linked with wantaway Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel, who is believed to be valued at €60 million by the Bavarian side. However, they could go for a cheaper option in Wissa, with the added guarantee of his pedigree to perform in the Premier League as well.

As mentioned above, Arsenal will only enter the race to sign Yoane Wissa at the 11th hour, that is after all other potential deals have fallen through. However, this could prove to be a major headache for Spurs, who could lose their target after putting in hours of work, as Wissa would prefer a move to a team fighting closer to the top of the table.

Although this has seldom happened in the past, Arsenal taking one of Tottenham’s transfer targets from under their nose would leave a very bitter taste in the latter’s mouth. Wissa has around a year-and-a-half remaining on his existing deal and the ball is still in the two clubs’ court should they decide to make a formal approach for the DR Congo national.
