Arsenal are already plotting their next major attacking investment, with Julian Alvarez emerging as a headline target for the summer of 2026.

According to sources, Andrea Berta has signalled to the Arsenal board that Alvarez is high on his shortlist. The Italian director knows the player well, having previously been involved in recruitment at his former club, and sees him as an ideal profile for Arsenal’s frontline evolution.

Mikel Arteta is also a massive admirer. The Arsenal boss has long appreciated Alvarez’s versatility, equally effective as a central striker or support forward and believes the Argentine would elevate the Gunners’ attacking options to another level.

A deal is expected to cost in excess of £80 million, but there is growing optimism within Arsenal circles that a move could be struck. With the club’s ownership and board demonstrating strong financial backing across recent windows, there is belief they will invest again to bring in a statement forward.

Alvarez would join a forward line already featuring Viktor Gyökeres, Bukayo Saka, Eze, Martinelli and Noni Madueke, but Arteta views him as a transformational addition who could provide goals, creativity, and flexibility in multiple systems.

Still only 25, Alvarez is in his peak years and carries both Premier League experience and Champions League pedigree. His relentless work rate, pressing intelligence, and technical sharpness make him tailor-made for Arteta’s style.

Arsenal have made a habit of targeting players with proven top-level experience who can immediately impact the XI, and Alvarez ticks every box. With Andrea Berta championing the move and Arteta pushing from the technical side, Arsenal could be heading towards another marquee summer.
