Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber expressed his belief in the team’s Premier League title ambitions. This followed Arsenal’s dramatic 2-1 victory against Newcastle United. The Gunners had to fight back from a goal down to secure the win. The victory brought Arsenal closer to the top of the league table.

“The belief is there. I think we showed that. The character from this team is amazing and I will never doubt that. Hopefully we can keep going like this,” he said. Arsenal had a challenging start to the campaign. This included tough matches against Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle, and Manchester United. “The season is so long. When you look at the schedule, it looks like a tough beginning, it was a tough beginning but it does not look like it will be easy now,” Timber added.

Consistency is key for Arsenal, says Timber

Timber stressed the importance of consistency for Arsenal to compete for the title. “If you want to win the Premier League, you know it’s going to be a long season. You have to stay close at the top and not just close for this week. Next week it’s the same thing, and we have to keep going.” He also highlighted the Newcastle result as a potential turning point for the team.

“Hopefully this will give us a lot of strength. I can tell you that the energy in the dressing room afterwards was amazing. It’s also because you know it will be tough, going behind, coming in at halftime 1-0 down, it’s going to be even tougher. But you never know before a game or a season when you are going to have tough situations.” Timber acknowledged Arsenal’s past struggles at St. James’ Park. “Since I’ve been at Arsenal, I don’t think we’ve ever won at Newcastle. It’s really difficult and yet we never panicked.”

Timber avoided comparing this season to the last. “I find it hard to compare seasons, last season was different, different players, different moments, different momentum. I’m just so happy that we did it.” Arsenal face Olympiacos in the Champions League. They also have a Premier League game against West Ham. The team aims to maintain their momentum in the pursuit of the league title.

With a Champions League clash against Olympiacos and a Premier League meeting with West Ham on the horizon, Arsenal will be aiming to maintain momentum as they continue their pursuit of a first league title in over two decades.

Two important Arsenal players were not seen in training ahead of tomorrow night’s UEFA Champions League tie against Olympiacos.
