Michael Kayode’s rapid rise at Brentford has put Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham on alert ahead of the summer transfer window.
Kayode joined Brentford permanently last summer after impressing during a loan spell from Fiorentina. He has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic right-backs. His blend of pace, strength and relentless running has translated seamlessly to the demands of the Premier League.
This season, he is averaging 2.3 tackles per game, 1.8 successful dribbles and more than 10 progressive carries per 90 minutes. Those numbers place him among the most productive full-backs in the league. His long-throw ability has also become a valuable weapon in Brentford’s attacking setup.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham track Michael Kayode
According to La Stampa, Kayode’s profile is growing, with four Premier League clubs following him with interest. Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham are all monitoring his situation.
Borussia Dortmund are also watching closely, continuing their long-standing approach of targeting emerging Italian talent.
A report from Italy at the beginning of January already named Manchester City and Tottenham as suitors. Another report earlier this month again linked Tottenham with a move.
Newcastle United have also been mentioned elsewhere, although they are not referenced in La Stampa’s latest report. The growing list of suitors shows the impression that Kayode has made at Brentford this season.
Kayode’s unconventional rise from Serie D to Premier League
Kayode’s rise to the Premier League has been anything but conventional.
After a difficult spell in Juventus’ youth system, Fiorentina took a chance on him, guided by Valentino Angeloni and scout Andrea Rittoni. Rittoni had previously spotted him playing in Serie D with Gozzano. His development accelerated rapidly, prompting Brentford to move last year and beat AC Milan to his signature.
Brentford paid €17.5 million for him last summer, with Transfermarkt now valuing him at €35 million. That valuation could rise further, with a senior call-up now appearing possible. Kayode has already won the U19 European Championship and reached the U20 World Cup final with his nation. A senior call-up now appears to be a matter of time.
