Zinedine Zidane stepped down as manager of Real Madrid after a successful spell with Los Blancos winning nine trophies in two and a half years at Santiago Beranbeau. As soon as the news of Zinedine Zidane’s Madrid departure broke out, many people started anticipating Real Madrid to appoint Arsene Wenger as their next manager.
Arsene Wenger recently admitted Real Madird’s approach “two or three times” during his tenure at Arsenal. He was too tied to Arsenal for a move away from North London, but things have changed now and it may just be a perfect time to show Arsenal supporters ‘what did they let go of’ after all the shouts and jeers lately in his Arsenal career. Maybe it is the move which took decades in making.
“Real Madrid I think I turned down two or three times you know. It’s one of the teams I loved when I was a kid. I just felt that it was a very sensitive period for Arsenal Football Club. You are always tempted to go to Real Madrid because they offered me the chance to take control of the whole club.” – comments made by Arsene Wenger on his tempt to join Real Madrid recently.
Football needs Wenger and it may just be the best way back. He is a bloke with unified calmness and an unbelievable football mind – certainly one of the greatest of the game. Wenger may just be someone who could change Real Madrid’s style of play for years to come. With intense passes and optimum perfection is how Wenger likes.
Arsene Wenger has made Arsenal into the club they are today, but it will be a different challenge at Madrid as they already are one of the world’s best club and it will be interesting to see the players he would recruit with the resources available.
Madrid’s former president Ramon Calderon admitted Florentino Perez’s love for Arsene Wenger to BBC World Service. Though he insisted the opinions of big players in the dressing room will be considered.
“It’s not easy to find a coach for Real. There are some in the market. Wenger has been offered that job many times. I know this president likes him and he was trying to offer him all the power of the club a few years ago. The president will have to talk to the big players in the dressing room – Cristiano, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo. They will give their opinion too.”
Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of Cristiano Ronaldo, recently admitting the biggest regret of his time at Arsenal was missing out on Cristiano Ronaldo. But here is his chance to work with Ronaldo, its a combination of the best with the best. Though Ronaldo recently drew grey clouds over his Real Madrid future, it is expected he will stay at Santiago Bernabeau.
Wenger has probably achieved every feat in his managing career with Arsenal except an European title. Real Madrid is the best option to fulfill that dream as of now as the Whites of Madrid just won its thirteenth Champions League title.
