What lies ahead for Mesut Özil?
According to Arsenal the World Cup winner missed Arsenal’s thrilling clash against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby with back spasm.
It has raised eyebrows among many Gooners, as you would not see Mesut Ozil miss couple of games on the trot under Arsene Wenger and it just seems surreal. Though Ozil’s absence was not felt by his team mates as they put in one of the best performance in recent history to claim their throne in North London.
Having sat out consecutive matches for a team because of the “physicality and intensity” required in the games, Mesut Ozil future at Arsenal is now being called into question.
The German agreed to a fresh contract in January to stay at the club until 2021. But with Unai Emery now in charge Ozil may be forced to move on in the summer.
According to the Sun, “sources close to the 30-year-old” say he won’t agitate for a move before the end of this season, but “may consider his options in the summer”.
One team that are keen signing Mesut Ozil – who comes with a hefty £350,000 fee per week is Serie A giants, Inter Milan. Ozil has been linked with Inter before and it is reported that Italian giants have renewed their interest.
At his best, Mesut Ozil boast “unbelievable ability”, the quality to unlock the toughest defences on the planet, developing a reputation for his quick thinking and intricate approach in the final third of the pitch. Whether or not he stays will be determined at the end of the season.
