The 20-year-old Champions League winner could well be a problem solver for Arsenal but do we really need him? If I were to scout him, I would probably look at our bench and say that our biggest plus is our full-backs and the quality we have.
We already have Hector Bellerin, Cedric Soares and Maitland Niles in our line-up who were out due to their respective injuries. Once recovered, they can prove out to be our biggest strength and affirm that Hakimi will be a waste of their talent.
No doubt Hakimi has had a sensational rise over the years playing for Dortmund and his goal-scoring prowess is an add on too but the huge price tag attached with him will surely hunt us. We will also face tough competition from his former club Real Madrid who would be willing to pay as much sum as possible.
We have had our problems in the full-back with Bellerin being injured more often than not. The youngster is a future star who if takes care of his fitness is undefeatable. We also missed the services of Maitland Niles due to injury but the full-back is recovering faster than ever and is ready to be on the pitch as soon as the footballing action begins.
Arsenal have also recently bought Cedric from Southampton courtesy his outstanding run of games at his former club. The Portuguese defender has experience playing in the Premier League and will not take time to acclimatize to the conditions at Emirates.
With all this taken into account, we should not forget the potential that our full-backs carry. They have risen to the occasions consistently and have not let us down once. The only concern for us will be their injury prone nature which with proper nutrition can be taken care of.
I would repeat that Hakimi is an interesting prospect and one that can lift every team that he joins but he is not someone that will fill the missing jigsaw at Arsenal. We should rather look for a quality centre-back and spend as much amount in the same.
