Arsenal have been linked with a potential January move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, as per journalist Dean Jones.
The Gunners have been urged to take a leap of faith and make a bid for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak in January. As per GiveMeSport journalist Dean Jones, a move for the Swedish international will be on the cards for the Gunners, and the club are expected to move swiftly to get ahead in the race to sign him. Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Jones said,
“One we’ve just spoken about, Marcus Rashford, I think he comes into the equation now, and the other one is Alexander Isak. And I think, I give the nod to Alexander Isak. I think this is the time to go for him.”
Jones expressed surprise at Newcastle’s inability to secure a new contract for one of their top assets, adding:
“It is, he should not be gettable. He shouldn’t be, but I’m told he is. I’m told that Newcastle are just not settled right now. There is a vulnerability about the squad, whereby few of their top players might be gettable when they shouldn’t be. And this guy is one of them, should have signed a new contract by now, but hasn’t.”
Jones concluded by giving a brief, yet strong nod to Isak by saying,
“I would trust Isak in an Arsenal system.”
It remains to be seen whether the Gunners test the Magpies’ resolve with a bid in January.
How would Alexander Isak fit in at Arsenal?
Alexander Isak could fill a crucial gap in Arsenal’s attacking line. With his height, strength, and reasonable pace, Isak would be a threat when running directly at defenders and during set-pieces. Despite his towering frame, Isak’s agility is impressive, showcased by some of his outstanding goals for Newcastle.
He arrived at St. James’ Park in 2022 and has made 86 appearances for the Magpies since then, scoring 47 goals and providing nine assists as well. His numbers suggest he is more of a target man than a facilitator, and with the likes of Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli around him, Isak will be guaranteed good service in the box should he make the switch.
Playing with such players will not only elevate the team’s overall performance, but would also be a good stepping stone for Isak, who can become a much better player himself.
