Andrea Berta ready to use two Arsenal stars as makeweight to sign Julian Alvarez

Arsenal are looking to reinforce offensive options at Mikel Arteta’s disposal when the next summer transfer window comes around. And as they have done in the past few windows, plotting a major shake-up of their attacking options this summer, and Julian Alvarez is at the centre of it.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, the Gunners are open to selling both Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus in the upcoming summer transfer window, with the pair potentially being used as part of a deal to bring the 26-year-old Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez to north London.

This one an ambitious piece of business but one that reflects where Mikel Arteta wants to take this club.

Martinelli and Jesus have both contributed during their time at the Emirates Stadium, but neither has nailed down a regular starting spot but the question here is whether Atletico Madrid are willing to play ball, and whether Alvarez himself is ready to return to England.

Why Julian Alvarez would be a statement Arsenal signing this summer

Do you think Atletico Madrid will sell star forward Julian Alvarez to Arsenal this summer?

Alvarez is not your average transfer target. The Argentine won the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and spent time in the Premier League with Manchester City, picking up major trophies before heading to Atletico Madrid. And once he started in the playing in Spanish capital, he has been balling.

And bringing him to Arsenal would send a clear message about Kroenke’s ambitions at N5 in the long term.

Neither Martinelli nor Jesus are a regular starter at the Emirates Stadium at this point in the season, and with Arsenal looking to keep evolving under Arteta, now feels like a natural moment to bring fresh high potential faces at London Colney.

Both players have shown what they can do in an Arsenal shirt, and they would likely attract genuine interest from clubs where consistent playing time is on offer.

Using them as part of a structured deal for Alvarez would be smart business if the numbers stack up. It clears wages, frees up squad spots, and potentially reduces the cash outlay on what would otherwise be an expensive transfer.

Can Arsenal offer Julian Alvarez more than Atletico Madrid right now?

That is a question worth asking. Atletico are a serious club, but Arsenal have genuine momentum behind them. Arteta has built a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, and the club can offer Alvarez a significant wage package alongside regular involvement in the biggest games in Europe.

The situation is still developing and there is no guarantee the deal comes together but the intent from the Gunners is clear.

This summer could define the next phase of Arteta’s project, and Alvarez looks like a player he genuinely wants to build around.
