Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos was taken off on Monday against Finland in UEFA Nations League game.
Sokratis started the game at Ratinan Stadion, Tampere but was replaced by Georgios Tzavellas at the break, with reports in his home country citing an ankle issue.
According to Greek outlet Gazzetta. gr, the central defender ‘suffered a sprain’. The extent of injury is unknown and his manager Unai Emery will be hoping that the issue isn’t too serious.
Sokratis has been a focal point in Arsenal’s defence since his arrival and with Laurent Koscielny and Konstantinos Mavropanos already sidelined, an injury to Sokratis Papastathopoulos may raise a huge leadership concern in the back-line.
Arsenal face five games in less than two weeks starting their game with Leicester City when they host them on Sunday evening.
