Arsenal are keen to bolster their ranks with additional talent and are reportedly targeting a potential transfer for Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis.
As per reports from Goal Brazil, the Gunners are set to join Chelsea in registering their interest in the 18-year-old prodigy who has shown promising signs early in his career.
Another club in the mix is Real Madrid, who are famously known for their recruitment of top Brazilian talent. This could make things tough for the Premier League giants as Los Blancos are reportedly ready to make a move for Reis as early as January.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has already showed his affinity towards recruiting young and promising defenders and integrating them into his system. With the team’s average age already hovering around 25 years, it is clear they are looking to recruit young players, so Vitor Reis fits the mould perfectly.
What could Vitor Reis bring to the current Arsenal team?
A right-footed defender standing at nearly six feet tall, Vitor Reis has come through the ranks at Palmeiras and has impressed those within the club. He made 16 appearances for the U20 side before being promoted to the first team, where he has played 22 games and also scored two goals.
His profile seems to be a good fit for the right centre back role currently played so well by William Saliba, who himself was signed at a young age from AS Saint-Etienne. While the Frenchman was sent out on multiple loan spells before he got his big break, Arsenal could have similar plans for future recruits of the same age.

The Gunners also have a healthy Brazilian contingent in the club and it would be a good environment to integrate a young player with the squad. However, while the north Londoners and their west London rivals Chelsea prepare a move, there has been no concrete offer made to Palmeiras so far.
