Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have been put on red-alert after surprising news coming out of AC Milan. As per exclusive reports from TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey, Milan would be willing to listen to offers for Theo Hernandez after the player fell out with manager Paulo Fonseca.
Both the Gunners and the Blues are in the market for reinforcements in the left back spot. While the latter has Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell in their ranks, injuries for the latter has pushed them into the market to seek for adequate cover. Arsenal, on the other hand, have Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko, but both are injury-prone.
Hernandez currently has 18 months left on his existing deal with the club and AC Milan have failed in several attempts to get the player to sign an extension. While he had a great relationship with former manager Stefano Pioli, Hernandez’s relationship with Fonseca has declined at an alarming rate for those within the club.
As a result, the Frenchman could have one foot out the door come January, with Manchester City also among the interested parties alongside Arsenal and Chelsea.
Paulo Fonseca hails Theo Hernandez as the “best in the world”
Ahead of AC Milan’s match against Hellas Verona, manager Fonseca made a strong claim about his player. The manager spoke highly of Theo Hernandez, who has emerged as one of the main players for his club as well as for France. Fonseca said,
“Theo is a very important player for us, it is never a punishment but simply to get him back into the best condition we know how. For me, he is the best full-back in the world.”
While these words seem like a reflection of a flourishing relationship between Fonseca and Hernandez, the opposite is true. Despite being so crucial to the team, Theo Hernandez has started just 10 of AC Milan’s 16 Serie A matches this season.
