Arsenal considering move for 20GA Inter Milan striker this month

Marcus-Thuram-Arsenal

Arsenal are reportedly increasing their efforts to make inroads into a potential deal for Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram, with the Italian side reportedly unwilling to part with the player mid-season. This is as per reports from Italian outlet TvPlay, who have claimed that the Gunners have a “big dream” of signing the player, whom they see as the missing piece in the puzzle.

However, the report also adds that while Inter are unwilling to part ways with the player in January, their stance could change in June. They would reportedly be open to a sale for a fee in the region of £59.2m, which would help the Nerazzurri recover their initial investment in Thuram.

So far this season, Marcus Thuram has been vital for Inter Milan across competitions and has forged a formidable partnership with Lautaro Martinez. Thuram has bagged 14 goals and six assists in 27 appearances across competitions, while Martinez has added 11 goals and five assists in 28 appearances. It is clear as day why Inter are unwilling to break this partnership that fetches them so many goals.

Marcus Thuram has an interesting connection with Arsenal, though. His father Lilian Thuram was teammates with Gunners legend Thierry Henry, with his two sons Marcus and Khephren also benefitting from their relation. Speaking in the aftermath of Inter Milan’s Serie A triumph last season, Marcus revealed how Henry helped him. He said,

“Today, I’d really like to thank my parents, and I’d like to thank Thierry Henry. Maybe he’s going to see this! I’d like to thank him for all the advice he gave me, and I hope this is only the start.

“He’s like my best uncle, he’s the uncle that’s here for me, to help me in good moments and bad moments. He always tells me the truth, and today I’d like to take the time to thank him, because if I’m here, it’s because of him too.”

Henry and Lilian Thuram played 131 games together for various clubs and France, averaging over two points per game together, and also combining for a goal on one occasion. It is heart-warming to see him pass on the knowledge to the next generation of players.
