Arsenal are on the verge of completing their first piece of business in the January transfer window with their new player reportedly being spotted in London.
This is as per Now Arsenal, who have added that Sverre Nypan is all set to finalize his move from Rosenborg BK to Arsenal this month, with manager Mikel Arteta reportedly a huge admirer of his qualities.
The Gunners will have defeated competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City as they look all set to win the race for Nypan. The 18-year-old was promised regular first-team action by Arteta, which has been one of the key reasons for the player favoring a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Reports from Norway earlier suggested that Nypan was closing in on a move to City instead, but The Athletic’s David Ornstein later confirmed that the Gunners had stolen a march on their rivals.
Nypan has made 60 appearances for Rosenborg’s senior team, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists as well. His numbers are incredible for his age and with Arsenal renowned for developing young talent, the move just makes sense.
What will Sverre Nypan bring to Arsenal?
Sverre Nypan has developed into one of the most promising midfielders in the current generation of players, and has also shown versatility in his roles. The Norwegian can comfortably play as the number 10, creating moves and picking out key passes for his attackers. He can also play in the number 8 role, meaning a slightly deeper position on the pitch with more focus on defensive work-rate.
Despite being 18, Nypan is believed to have all the qualities that the Gunners’ deem vital for success in the first team, and the player is expected to be a vital part of the squad alongside fellow teenagers Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.

Another good factor in this move is that the Norwegian league is currently in its off-season for the winter. The Gunners also share a good working relationship with Rosenborg and will look to put pen to paper soon to finalize the deal for Nypan.
