Arsenal are lining up a surprise move for talented Spanish left-back Alejandro Balde from Barcelona.
Balde is in the last 18 months of his contract with the Spanish club. He has had a breakthrough season in Xavi Hernandez’s team, leapfrogging the likes of Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso as the first-choice in that position. The talented Spanish left-back has a huge future in the game. He is exceptional going forward. His pace really helps him recover in defensive situations as well.
There is no doubt that Barcelona rate him very highly. The Spanish club generally hold players who come from their own academy in high regard and they will fight until the very end to keep Balde. Alejandro Balde himself came out and conceded he’d love to stay at Barcelona. Alemany & co. are said to be in the negotiations process over a new contract for the teenager.
Arsenal have the likes of Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko to play in the left-back position. Takehiro Tomiyasu has also been used there in this campaign.
Additionally, they also have the talented Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares out on loan at Olympique Marseille. They really don’t need to add another left-back to the squad. It’s highly unlikely that Barcelona sell Alejandro Balde and the Gunners can avoid wasting their time here.
