Arsenal are reigniting their pursuit of Lois Openda, the 24-year-old could be the long-term solution to the Gunners attacking ambitions.
Former Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar apparently did the Gunners a solid one before departing to work with Evangelos Marinakis at Nottingham Forest. As per reports by Arsenal Fanatics News on their Patreon, the Brazilian had agreed a deal in principle to land RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda for a fee in the region of €50m before departing north London.
Edu and the club hierarchy were also very close to securing a deal for Openda on transfer deadline day in the summer window. However, the deal fell through at the eleventh hour and the club had to scramble for other options. They eventually ended up signing Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea but will look for a more permanent solution in attack.
To this tune, Arsenal will now reignite their interest in 24-year-old striker Lois Openda. The player has been on the club’s radar ever since his playing days with RC Lens in Ligue 1, but now despite being with Leipzig, the Gunners will look to get their man.
Could Lois Openda be the answer for Arsenal?
Standing at just under six feet, Openda is a powerful striker with heaps of pace and is also fairly two-footed. His positioning and ability to run in behind defences makes him one of the most-prized assets in European football at present.
Having come through the youth ranks at Club Brugge between 2015-18, Openda was promoted to the first team in 2018, and he spent four years at the club. He then joined RC Lens for a season in 2022/23, before making the switch to RB Leipzig for €46 million in July 2023.
Since then, he has made 60 appearances for Leipzig across competitions, scoring 34 goals and providing 11 assists as well. Going at a rate of more than a goal every other game, Arsenal will have their eyes peeled on the player and his camp.

They will look to make a move in January, but the summer remains an option as well since RB Leipzig would likely have no intention of parting with their player mid-season.
