Arsenal are looking to take advantage of Gavi’s situation in Barcelona with the player returning to his academy status after his new contract was declared null and void.
Gavi’s contract saga has been dragging on for way too long now with the player still not sure of the first team berth at the club. La Liga and the club have been in loggerheads and the court has ruled the decision in favour of the league.
This means that despite being registered as a first team player and given the number six shirt, Gavi’s contract has been scrapped and he will return to his previous academy terms and play with a number 30 going forward.
It is a far from ideal situation which could mean that Gavi is available ridiculously for a free transfer in the summer. The Spaniard has shown that he has immense potential and top clubs around Europe will be keeping an eye on him.
Arsenal are no different and signing someone like Gavi would be the dream. The Spaniard would be a great acquisition to make in midfield as he could provide a different presence to the likes of Granit Xhaka.
There is no doubt that other top clubs will also be keen on signing the Spanish midfield teenager. However, it is likely that his contract issues at Barcelona are solved and he remains there for a long time to come.
