Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo could be forced out of the club as things stand with his LaLiga registration situation, as well as the club’s financial limitations. The Spaniard signed from RB Leipzig in 2023, with the league making multiple exceptions for his salary and registration, even up ending up making a new rule to ensure he can be registered.
However, as per reports from The Athletic, Dani Olmo’s playing license in LaLiga is only valid until December. This is because the league had made an exception for Barcelona while allowing them to register Olmo, but the allowance was only for four months, i.e. until December 31.
As a result, there is a very real possibility that Barca will have to let Olmo leave on a free transfer in January, with it looking increasingly unlikely that they can put together an amount enough to compensate for his salary. Players such as Inigo Martinez and Marc Casado were easily registered after Ronald Araujo accepted a pay cut.
However, it could be a challenge in Olmo’s case.

As a result, Dani Olmo’s long-term future at Barcelona is currently up in the air. With his stint with the club having a very strong possibility of ending within six months, Arsenal are among the clubs keeping tabs on the player.
Olmo can play as an attacking midfielder, as a wide midfielder, or even as a lone striker – mainly a false nine. His ball-striking, dribbling and passing abilities are also top-notch, and the player has a keen understanding of the game, something which Arsenal’s Spanish manager Mikel Arteta would be attuned with.

Finances are also not a problem for the Gunners, who broke their transfer record to sign Declan Rice just last year. They could enter the market and offer Dani Olmo a sum he asks for, with the ball then in Barcelona’s court as to whether they accept or decline.
