Arsenal are moving swiftly to secure William Saliba future with a new contract. The 23-year-old Frenchman, already a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s defence, could soon see his role—and his value—cemented even further!
Arsenal will look to fend off any moves from Real Madrid for key defender William Saliba as they are reportedly preparing an improved contract for the Frenchman. Having only signed a four-year extension in 2023, the Gunners will now look to offer Saliba improved terms to prevent Los Blancos from entering the fray.
The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the most important players in Mikel Arteta’s young Arsenal team. A composed, strong and decisive presence at the back, Saliba has been a key component of the Gunners’ emergence as one of the better defensive teams in the Premier League.
Real Madrid have been in the market for a centre back for quite some time now and Saliba is one of their main targets. However, Arsenal will look to step in and prevent their player from being tempted by pastures anew.
William Saliba: An important brick in the Arsenal wall
Saliba joined Arsenal from AS Saint-Etienne in July 2019 aged just 18 for a reported fee of £27 million on an initial five-year deal. However, he was loaned back to the club for the 2019/20 season and spent the next season at Nice, followed by the 2021/22 campaign with Marseille.
However, the Frenchman broke into the Arsenal side in the 2022/23 season and formed a formidable partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes. Saliba has since made 98 appearances for the Gunners, contributing with five goals and two assists along with some solid defensive performances.

Despite being just 23, William Saliba displays great composure and maturity beyond his years when he takes to the field. His performances have drawn comparisons with some other great defenders and he has the potential to become one of the greats as well.
Saliba has made 15 appearances across competitions so far this season for Arsenal and will look to continue to perform at a high level.
