Arsenal told how much they need to pay to sign 24-year-old Real Madrid star this summer

Rodrygo-Arsenal

Arsenal have been informed that they need to splash €80 million (£75m) to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this summer, as per Spanish outlet Cadena SER.

Earlier this week, journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed that the Gunners held exploratory talks to sign the 24-year-old. They have been strongly linked with him for the past few weeks, as the club are actively looking for an upgrade on their current options.

Rodrygo has been a vital player for Madrid, but a lack of clarity on his role might force him to look for options elsewhere. He wasn’t a regular in the last six games for Los Blancos, and former manager Carlo Ancelotti quickly dismissed those transfer rumours, stating that he was injured for these matches.

However, two important movements have already occurred at the club. The arrival of Xabi Alonso as the manager and Luka Modric’s departure have hinted that Madrid are redeveloping their squad ahead of the new season.

Hence, Rodrygo’s transfer cannot be ruled out, and new talks have already taken place in the last few days. There still might be complications in the deal due to his significant wage request, which is believed to be in the region of £8.4m (€10m).

But Arsenal won’t hesitate from paying that sum if they get the right player for their squad. Manager Mikel Arteta was asked about the links with the attacker, and he accepted that the club needs the best players in order to win a major title next season.

He said:

Well, I wouldn’t like to name a player, but obviously we have come. If you want to win major trophies, you have to be the best in the market, no? The teams that win always have the best players at this level.”

“What we have, what is clear as well with the amount of injuries that we had in the front line, that we need a goal threat and we need the firepower out there.”

Madrid will only listen to the best offers and the one which tempts them to sell their prized asset. We expect more positive developments in this transfer saga in the upcoming weeks.

For now, the Gunner’s primary focus would be to bring Martin Zubimendi on board as soon as possible before making some bold moves in the summer window.
