Arsenal prime target could join Liverpool this summer

Rodrygo-Arsenal

Arsenal’s pursuit of Rodrygo Goes may be under serious threat, as Liverpool have now identified the Real Madrid winger as a top replacement for Luis Diaz. The Colombian could be on his way out of Anfield, and Liverpool are already laying the groundwork to bring in a high-profile successor.

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool have made Rodrygo their primary target should they cash in on Diaz. The 28-year-old has attracted strong interest from Bayern Munich, with the German club already having one bid rejected. Liverpool are holding out for close to €100 million, and if that number is met, they plan to reinvest directly into securing Rodrygo.

There’s growing belief that Real Madrid would be willing to part ways with Rodrygo for around £100 million. Despite being just 24, his future in Madrid looks uncertain under new manager Xabi Alonso, who barely used him during the Club World Cup. That lack of involvement has fueled speculation that the Spanish giants are ready to cash in.

Arsenal have long admired Rodrygo’s profile and would love to bring him to the Emirates, especially if they can offload Leandro Trossard or even Gabriel Martinelli to make room. But they’re not alone. Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested, particularly if their efforts to sign Diaz fall through.

Arteta faces uphill battle to secure target

Mikel Arteta is understood to be a big fan of Rodrygo’s versatility and final-third efficiency, viewing him as a potential game-changer for Arsenal’s title charge. However, Liverpool’s situation with Diaz may accelerate the Rodrygo chase, and Arsenal cannot afford to wait too long. Should Diaz leave, Liverpool are prepared to move fast and aggressively for the Brazilian.

Rodrygo is likely to command a top salary and expect guaranteed minutes. That could make Arsenal’s pitch more complicated, especially with Bukayo Saka, Martinelli, and now Noni Madueke already competing in wide roles. Still, the opportunity to be a marquee signing in Arteta’s system could prove persuasive.

Author Opinion

Rodrygo to Liverpool is far from a done deal, but it’s a situation Arsenal must take seriously. With Bayern also lurking and Real Madrid potentially open to a sale, the next few weeks will be critical. If Arsenal truly want the Brazilian, they’ll need to move decisively or risk watching another top target slip away to a rival.
