The Premier League is back as Arsenal host Manchester City in the first gameweek to begin their campaign.
Unai Emery will have a tough battle to kick start his Arsenal career as he face reigning champion Manchester City.
Strikers are just the focal point for big game like this and both the club’s boast quality of striking force in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Alexandre Lacazette as his back up for Arsenal and Sergio Aguero with Gabriel Jesus as his back up for Manchester City.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
It’s first full season for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and it has got everyone excited. His pace, intelligence and finishing just lights up Arsenal. He is one of the best striker in the World and Arsenal will be hoping he turns up on his ‘A’ game as the Gunners look to settle last season humiliation with Manchester City.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang took over Alexandre Lacazette as Arsenal’s first choice as soon as he arrived from Borussia Dortmund in January. He recorded 10 goals in 13 league games with 4 assists and that penalty layoff to Lacazette despite being on a hat-trick saw him establish himself as fan favorite in no time. Though you just cannot hate him, right? – especially after that big smile on his face he wears on regular basis.
Aubameyang and Lacazette will have to be in their top shape if Unai Emery is looking to bid for the title this season.
Manchester City lie back deep into the defence and with constant backups from Fernandinho its difficult to find space for that final pass. You have to play intelligent if you are to make way for yourself beyond City’s defence. Aubameyang will have to be intelligent with those runs and fake runs. He also has to use the chemistry with Mesut Ozil as well as Henrikh Mkhitaryan to its best to create something magical, to surprise City and beat them mentally.
Aubameyang netted a brilliant hat trick in Arsenal’s first preseason match against Boreham Wood – that fifteen minute cameo. Though his next goal came against Lazio last weekend, he will have to show ‘Why he is regarded one of the best’ this Sunday.

Sergio Aguero
Sergio Aguero has been Manchester City’s main man for years now and the same is set to be inherited this season again. Aguero did have a playtime scare when Gabriel Jesus first arrived at the club, though with time the Argentine has established himself as clear first choice under Pep Guardiola.
Sergio Aguero comes into the game on a high after netting two goals against Chelsea last weekend in a bid to help City win Community Shield. The first goal against Chelsea, marked Aguero’s double century for the Cityzens.
Aguero recorded 21 goals and 6 assists in 25 league appearances for Manchester City last season despite facing some injury layoffs.
With Sokratis and Mustafi guarding Arsenal’s defence, Sergio Aguero will have to get more than pace and strength to get past them. Both of the defenders like to give strikers some hard time and Aguero will be a real treat for them if they managed to keep him quiet.
He has always been in contention for the Golden boot and he is all set to compete Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for achieving that Premier League’s golden plating.
