Then on the deadline day Arsenal ace Olivier Giroud was sold to arch rivals Chelsea, to make way For Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Giroud was a popular face in the dressing room and according to former Arsenal star Martin Keown – when Wenger sold Giroud, he Lost Arsenal’s dressing room. Now the players are waiting for the Frenchman to end his 22 year tenure at North London, claims Keown.
Keown played under Arsene Wenger from 1997/2004 and had a successful spell winning Three Premier League titles and Four FA Cups.
Keown told BBC Sport: ‘Like every great leader, you find the right time to leave the club. That moment has gone since, long ago. Now he’s trying to get a performance from players who are looking over their shoulder at who’s coming in next.
‘Who can Arsene turn to in that changing room now? But he’s put himself in that position, there’s no players for him after getting rid of people like Giroud.’
