Barcelona’s 130 goal ace open to Arsenal switch, initial talks held between parties

Olmo-Arsenal

Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo’s situation at the club is about to enter a decisive stage as the January window edges closer. The club were only able to register the player for a few months until December 31, owing to their financial constraints. Now, it looks increasingly unlikely they can put together the money to register Olmo, which means Barca could be forced to let him leave on a free.

As per reports by Arsenal Fanatic News, the Gunners are among the teams highly keen on signing Dani Olmo, and have their eyes peeled regarding the player’s current situation with Barcelona. Earlier, Barca had requested some players to make adjustments in their respective deals to make space to accommodate new contracts. However, the same will not work for Olmo, whose payout is substantially higher than average.

Therefore, Barcelona could be left with no choice but to allow the player who joined them only a few months ago to leave the club. Olmo has made 15 appearances across competitions, scoring six goals and providing one assist as well. His value among other European teams has still remained the same.

How would Dani Olmo fit in at Arsenal?

Tactically speaking, Olmo would be the ideal fit for the Gunners’ system that rewards and encourages versatile players. He can play as a wide midfielder on either side, can play in a slightly deeper midfield role, and can also lead the line as a striker or a false nine. This versatility would appeal to Mikel Arteta, who has preferred signing players of similar profiles in the past.

A tall, technically gifted and physically strong player, Olmo has the tools to succeed in the Premier League. He also has a silky dribbling ability despite his height, and finds ways through tight spaces like it’s a piece of cake.

With over 320 professional appearances and over 130 goal contributions to go with it, Olmo could be an invaluable addition to the Arsenal squad. He also has age still on his side as he is just 26 years old.
