It’s good news for Arsenal football club because La Liga giants Barcelona are keen on selling star winger Malcom in the summer transfer window following a poor season at the Camp Nou.
The 22-year-old Malcom arrived at Catalonia back in the summer of 2018 from Bordeaux with heavy expectations on his shoulders. But the Brazilian has failed to live up to those high hopes scoring only four goals across all competitions and lasting the whole 90 minutes only four times in the entire campaign.
With Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho, Sergi Roberto, and Ousmane Dembele ahead of the pecking order at Barcelona, Malcom does not have a chance at regular football and might not be able to nail down a starting berth at the Camp Nou for the next few seasons.
Barcelona are now willing to recoup some of the transfer funds they spent while trying to lure Malcom to the Catalonian capital and are preparing to offload the attacker if any suitable offer is on the line.
Premier League side Arsenal is looking to strengthen their squad in the summer and Unai Emery wants a few players that can add width to his team in an attacking outlet. The Spaniard has been given a transfer war chest of a mere £40 million as he failed to get Arsenal into the Champions League.
But Arsenal is now on red alert for Malcom following Barcelona’s decision to sell the winger this summer. With a relatively low transfer budget, Arsenal might look to strike a loan deal for Malcom as they did with Denis Suarez earlier in January.
