Manchester City are looking at the possibility to be without one of their key players, Phil Foden, in their upcoming fourth-round FA Cup clash against Arsenal on Friday.
The young midfielder has been termed doubtful owing to a foot injury, which could be a huge boost to Mikel Arteta’s team. Foden has been a vital player for Manchester City this season, playing a crucial role in their attack. Phil was an unused substitute in City’s fixture against Spu*s and that was followed by a complete absence against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
“He’s getting better. We train this afternoon,” Guardiola said in his pre-game press conference.
Foden has been a regular starter, making appearances in both the Premier League and the Champions League. His absence will be a huge boost for Arsenal as Foden has been one of the most creative players for Manchester City.
Arsenal are high-flying at the moment anyways and without Foden, they would be even more confident about the game against the defending Premier League champions.
However, the Gunners are yet to face Man City this season in any competition. Even the best of teams struggle to get past Pep Guardiola and his tactics and this is a huge test.
This game is also a dress rehearsal ahead of the two Premier League clashes against the same opponents that are yet to be played which could go a long way in deciding which way the title race ends up this season.
