It’s been almost an year when Aaron Ramsey contractually left us (he did physically leave us in June). The all time starrer of Arsenal had joined Juventus leaving us a space difficult to fill.
Since his departure we have had a lot of talks on who can potentially replace him with Denis Suarez theoretically filling his place but could not do even a little bit of Ramsey on the pitch. If anything, Arsenal’s midfield has looked hole-prone even with Ceballos trying to fill those empty spaces.
Arsenal squad have potentially found a Ramsey replacement. On paper, yes. But for real? A week of training may answer our questions. MLS youngster Cole Bassett who is Ramsey-esque has been called up by Arsenal for a week of training.
The midfielder of Colorado Rapids has arrived at London for the trial and after a week of training will probably leave back to America. Cole Bassett has always had a dream of joining his favourite club and would definitely want to grab the opportunity.
Cole Bassett had the delight of playing against Arsenal in the pre-season tour where his team lost to the Gunners 3-0. The youngster, however impressed the scout of Gunners who have called him up for trial.
He told the Denver Post: “As most people already know, this is my favourite club. I don’t know which team it will be because it’s an international break for them.
“Hopefully, there will be a couple of guys missing with the first team and I can get with them. But I’m just excited to get over there and show up basically.
“When Arsenal came over here and played us, you could see there are little things that they do that I just don’t quite have yet.
“I’m eager to learn from them. Picking up things from every player will help improve my game. It’s going to be a great learning experience.”
The youngster is strong in passes just like his idol Ramsey and the list does not end here. An expert in wriggling past the defenders, he is a box-to-box midfielder who always finds a way to goal.
Watch him play once and he will remind you of young Aaron Ramsey always.
