Arsenal shocked the World when they announced signing of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid for a club record fee of £37.4 million back in 2013.
The German felt that he was not trusted enough by the management of Los Blancos and opted for a challenge in the Premier League with Arsenal.
Stars at Real Madrid were not happy for selling Mesut Ozil, Cristiano Ronaldo was vocal about his anger towards Real Madrid’s decision to part company with Ozil, telling the press: “The sale of Ozil is very bad news for me. He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal. I’m angry about Ozil leaving.”
With Best in the World, also their current captain and probably the best defender in the World right now – Sergio Ramos, also wished that Mesut nver left the White side of Madrid.
“He is a team-mate and a friend; he’s different. Mesut is a different kind of player,” Ramos said five years ago.
“If it were up to me, he would be one of the last ones to go. But Ozil and the club have made the decision and I can only wish him the best.
“I got on really well with him. He is a unique player and it makes me sad. These are personal matters and he is free to choose what he wants.”
