David Ornstein claims Arsenal are keen admirers of 13GA PL winger

Football journalist David Ornstein has created a reputation of delivering the most accurate transfer news. He could be at it again, predicting that Arsenal could amp up their interest in Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, whom they have been keeping tabs on for a long time. However, Ornstein also added that the interest in the player is widespread, and other big clubs are also in the picture.

Gordon, whose pace has drawn comparisons with Arsenal talisman Bukayo Saka, is said to be on the Gunners’ list of wingers they are targeting to bolster their left wing. Speaking to Sky Sports about the situation, Ornstein said,

“Maybe players like Miguel Almiron who looks to be on his way to the MLS. Maybe Sean Longstaff, there are other options. They came close to doing something with Anthony Gordon in the past. Again, I don’t think he’d be the one they’d like to lose, but I do hear of other clubs who have a huge admiration for him, even Arsenal among them like Anthony Gordon.”

Gordon has been in good touch this season, scoring eight goals and adding five assists in 27 appearances for the Magpies across competitions. It remains to be seen if clubs line up to sign him in the summer.

Gordon could be the perfect winger pairing with Saka

Both Saka and Gordon are almost nailed-on starters for England, regardless of who the manager is. Having said that, they could both make a decent impact at club level as well, and have a similar output to one another.

Last season, Saka produced 20 goals and 14 assists from 47 appearances across competitions. Gordon, on the other hand, produced 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances. With both players contributing goals and assists at a high rate, their pairing could be the answer for Arsenal to end their title drought.
