EURO 2024: Arsenal Semifinals Review

Saka-Ramsdale-Celebration

An overview of the Arsenal players representing their countries at the semi-final stage of the 2024 UEFA Euros. Four out of the five Gunners remaining in the tournament advanced to the next and final stage of the Euros, setting up a blockbuster final pitting Spain against England.

Three Arsenal players will represent England in the final while David Raya will be Spain’s sole North London representative. However, only two Gunners are expected to be involved in the match, with Aaron Ramsdale and Raya likely to remain on the bench as the backup goalkeepers.

William Saliba:

The Arsenal star looked a bit shaky compared to the dominant performances he has displayed so far in the tournament. While he passed with accuracy, he didn’t look fully confident in defense. He won only two of his six duels and struggled to deal with Dani Olmo, lucky to escape without a booking after a clumsy foul on the Spaniard.

Despite the result, the young center-back can be proud of the Euros he had. He should be included in the team of the tournament.

David Raya:

On the bench as Unai Simon continues to claim the starting position for his nation with some impressive performances. The newly announced Gunner saw his country record a victory against France to send them to their first Euro final in 12 years.

Bukayo Saka:

Starting as the right wing-back, Saka enjoyed a lively first half. He had a hand in England’s first goal, going on a mazy dribble in the Netherlands box and having his blocked shot fall at Harry Kane’s feet.

Thought he had scored the winner in the second half but it was ruled out after Kyle Walker was flagged for offside.

Declan Rice:

A tough outing for the defensive midfielder, who hasn’t been at his best this entire tournament. Rice was guilty for the Netherlands’ goal, having been robbed of the ball by Xavi Simons near the edge of the box.

The 25-year-old improved after the mistake but was still a bit shaky at times.

Aaron Ramsdale:

An unused substitute with England progressing to the finals after a late winner. They will face Spain in the final as they seek to win the nation’s first Euros trophy.
