Arsenal have been surrounded by a bunch of transfer rumours throughout the ongoing transfer window. Not all plans have come to fruition, with the English giants making just one signing this summer. Their hunt for a midfielder continues as they are closing on Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.
The Gunners can conclude their transfer window by signing another player if conditions are favourable. It is understood that the Reds are also targeting a winger/striker going into the conclusive days of the summer window with several names on their wish list.
Rumours have it that the North Londoners side scouted Chelsea right-winger Noni Madueke.
ARSENAL’S INTEREST IN NONI MADUEKE LOOKS DEAD IN THE WATER
The Athletic stated that Mikel Arteta holds a keen interest in the former PSV Eindhoven star and wants to test Chelsea’s stance on his future.
The Blues were asking for a permanent deal worth €33 million (no loan offers) for their 22-year-old star. However, this transfer rumour didn’t pick up pace at all and in fact, Arsenal didn’t make any attempt to open a conversation with the player or his agent.

The management scouted the pacy winger as they wanted him to cover a slot in their squad. He wasn’t their top target or someone that they wanted desperately.
Either it can be another misleading piece (which is difficult considering how reliable the Athletic have been over the years) or the Gunners had a tough time dealing with ‘Chelski’. The interested club wasn’t short of money but the Blues play a tricky game when it comes to negotiations.
Chelsea fought for their asking price and they did a similar thing with Manchester United. They didn’t back down while negotiating a move for Mason Mount. They stretched it until the opposition decided to accept their demands.
When it comes to transfers, Arsenal act mature under director Edu. The fans have rarely witnessed them getting manhandled in the market and hence, it was obvious that they stepped away from this deal.

MADUEKE IS NOT THE BEST OPTION FOR AN ELITE CLUB LIKE ARSENAL
The Gooners have Bukayo Saka to terrorize opponents’ defence via the right flank. We can’t deny that they need another player to compete in that spot, but Madueke is not the best option to look for.
He is young and still has a lot to improve in his gameplay. For a winger, it’s about pace and how he finishes. Although Madueke has crazy acceleration, he has never been on the front foot at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea ace needs to work on his end product, and whether he can prove us wrong in this campaign remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, the fans still hope that Arsenal can rope in at least one attacker before the window ends. Bakayoko from PSV could ideally be roped in as a Saka backup, as he will not only come cheaper than Madueke but also come in with fresh confidence after his performances in the Dutch top tier.
The Gunners have a position to fill since Eddie Nketiah is close to joining Nottingham Forest.
