Arsenal maestro Emile Smith Rowe has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to let go of fringe players in order to reinvest the funds into strengthening the squad at hand.
The Hale End graduate has been one of the fan favorites at Arsenal, although injury problems have been his downfall as consistent spells on the sidelines have avoided him opportunities in the first team, and he eventually lost his place in the starting eleven at N5.
Emile Smith Rowe Transfer Tango Heats Up
Arsenal have now rejected a £30 million plus bonus from city neighbors Fulham for the 23-year-old player, as reported by Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
Dharmesh Sheth took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide an update on the transfer proceedings: “Arsenal reject bids from Fulham and Crystal Palace for forward Emile Smith Rowe. Discussions are ongoing at both clubs over whether to go back in with an improved offer. Smith Rowe wants to assess all options; regular first-team football is his primary motivation.”
Following the rejection of their offer, the Cottagers are contemplating another offer for a higher fee. However, alongside Fulham, Crystal Palace also remain interested in Emile Smith Rowe, as they consider him one of the midfield transfer targets.
Now offer on the horizon?
Despite the Eagles interest, Fulham are ready to replicate their intent with another transfer bid, as they are ready to reinvest the majority of transfer fees received in João Palhinha’s sale into the England international. They are reportedly willing to go as high as £40 million.
Smith Rowe has a contract at London Colney until June 2026; however, he is eager to get minutes under his belt, which may force him to seek a move away from the Emirates Stadium. Emile Smith-Rowe has been at Arsenal since he was ten, and he made his professional debut for the club in 2018. He has gone on to make 115 appearances for the North Londoners since. ERS break-through season at N5 came in 2021/22, where he made 33 Premier League appearances, scoring ten goals and providing two assists in the process.
Fulham have been playing some exceptional positional football under Marco Silva, and signing a creative profile of Smith-Rowe’s ability would be a massive coup for the Cottagers.
With the clubs holding initial discussions, the deal can compound in no time if both sides are willing to find common terms on the transfer fee side of things.
